Mentoring is a key element of the CYL delivery strategy, it enables young people to engage with a positive individual who can provide advice, information and guidance whilst helping them to plan for their future.

The formal mentoring programme includes one to one mentoring by; peers, celebrities, artists and media professionals with additional life-coaching sessions delivered by a professional life coach.

This engagement is supported by an optional psychometric report written on each attendee which advises on the best ways to manage and communicate with each individual.

Sessions last up to 5 hours, one day per week, over a 12 – 36 week period.

Peer mentoring takes place as part of our media course delivery, we recognise that many young people may find it difficult to talk to adults or express themselves; this may be due to a lack of trust or because they feel older people do not understand them.

CYL Youth mentors participate in the delivery of all our media courses alongside our professional tutors. They are enhanced CRB checked and trained to identify young people who may need additional support or those that need safeguarding.
